So this post is the result of me finding a way to resurrect an old Mac Book Pro. To make things worse his DVD drive wouldn't read a install disk. His computer was no longer supported on current OSX releases. I saved his Data but then realized his computer was so old that I was going to have trouble getting a copy of OSX installed. I had a guy bring me in an old Mac Book Pro that had a corrupted hard drive. ![]() This is because Apple’s ‘Startup Manager’, summoned by holding the Option/alt (⌥) key when booting, won’t detect the USB stick without a specific partition table and layout. ![]() There are a few additional considerations when booting the USB stick on Apple hardware.
